SF Sketchfest

Well hello Ballers, it's been a while. We haven't talked in, what, a month or so? While I did drunk dial you a few times over the holidays, you wisely never answered. It's probably for the best we shouldn't go down that road again, there's always strings attached, no matter sweet lies you pour into my ear.

All that aside, I think we should give each other another chance. It's a new year and we can have a new beginning too! I also know the perfect place for us to go for our Born-Again first time (how does that sound religiously up-tight and a little dirty at the same time?): SF SKETCHFEST!

"What is SF Sketchfest?" you might be asking yourself, your brain not working as well as usual due to the shock that I would take you back after all these weeks.

While being your chance to get me back, SF Sketchfest is also your chance to see some of today's best comedians right here in lovely San Francisco. Since you haven't heard of SF Sketchfest, I've decided out of the goodness of my heart (your parents always liked that about me) to give you my SF Sketchfest preview. In the interest of saving you time (see, I care), I have broken the preview up into three sections: Top Picks, Hidden Gems, and Daily Recommendations. Top Picks will have just that, my top picks for the entire Sketchfest. Hidden Gems are my dark horse picks that might be funny or might totally suck. If you're feeling lucky, spin the wheel of fate with these guys. Lastly, Daily Recommendations will be my top pick for that day. Pretty easy to understand? Good (you always understood me so well).
SF Sketchfest 2011 Preview

Top Picks
-ASSSSCAT 1/13 8:00pm
Long form Improv based on a celebrity monologist's true stroies about a topic from the audience.

-Celebrity Autobiography 1/14 8:00pm & 1/15 5:00pm & 8:00pm
Famous funny people reading the Autobiographies of famous not-funny people.

-Whose Live Anyway? 1/29 7:00pm & 9:30pm
The live version of the popular Whose Line Is It Anyway tv show.

-Viva Variety Reunion 1/29 8:00pm & 10:30pm
A reunion of the characters from Comedy Central's variety show Viva Variety. Many will recognize them from the tv shows The State and Reno 911!

Now, I know my Top Picks may look like any night on Comedy Central, but this is a chance to see some of the greats live. Ryan Stiles, Greg Proops, Chip Esten, Jeff Davis, Thomas Lennon, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Michael Ian Black, Robert Ben Garant, Andrew Daly, Tim Meadows, Matt Besser, Ian Roberts, Matt Walsh, and Will Forte just to name a few! Get your butt to one of these shows and you will not be sorry!

Hidden Gems
-Porchlight, A Storytelling Series 1/14 8:00pm & 10:30pm
This is a cool local storytelling series I got to see a year or so ago. Local color always help brighten other's stories with personal memories.

-Gentlemen's Club With Bob Odenkirk 1/15 8:00pm
I like to think of Bob Odenkirk as the funniest guy everyone always forgets. Having been on The Ben Stiller Show, The Dennis Miller Show, and Mr. Show, Bob Odenkirk should be known in every comedy loving home in America. Won't you bring Mr Odenkirk into your loving home?

-Rifftrax Presents Night of the Shorts 1/20 9:30pm
Mystery Science Theater 3000 is responsible for a good chunk of the way I do comedy (or at least how I talk over movies). Get a new take on some instructional, PSA, nature, science and safety videos with some of your favorite funny people.

-Citizen Radio 1/22 3:00pm
Covering most of the stories you didn't hear about because they were avoided by the mainstream media, Citizen Radio has become "an important political radio show that balances humor and unreported news". Just ask Noam Chomsky, that's his quote.
